Our Staff at South Riding

Kathleen DiSanto is the Site Director of B2R South Riding… take her previous positions as Sales Coordinator, Teacher Assistant, Music Parent and the best part of each one and that is her awesome job here at B2R… children, parents, and music… everyday there is something different and exciting going on and she is in the middle of all of it… just beauteous!!!

Andrew Griffin is the Assistant Site Director at South Riding. He studied music at Berklee College of Music. He graduated in 2008 with a degree in professional music. While in Boston he gigged with the rock band Copenger. Since his return to the D.C. area he has been gigging with the funk/rock/soul band Gallons To Ounces. In May of 2009 he had the honor of opening up for Willy Nelson with country singer Ashley Alexander. Andrew teaches bass, guitar, coaches bands, and leads birthday parties. He specializes in Rock, Funk, Blues, Jazz Bass, Country, and Pop.

Kristol Bond is a a piano teacher at B2R South Riding. She received her B.A. in piano performance at Hollins University in Roanoke, VA, where she also received certificates in piano pedagogy and arts administration. Kristol participated as accompanist for the school's concert choir, touring with them in Venice, Italy in 2009 and as a percussionist for Winds of the Blue Ridge. Kristol also enjoys playing the guitar and has been playing the piano since age 5. She is currently pursuing a masters degree in arts administration at Shenandoah University. She enjoys listening to and playing music from a diverse genre of artists, some of her favorites include Bach, Chopin, Led Zepplin, The Beatles, Philip Glass, Tori Amos, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

Ben Dickey is a piano, violin, bass and band coach at B2R South Riding. His music career kicked off on the keyboard at age 7 and violin followed soon thereafter. He has performed in area youth orchestras along with a few musical pit orchestras. For the past 3 years, Ben has performed violin and bass with a local rock band, combining elements of classical training with influences of 90's alternative rock. He is currently working on recording his own compositions with an acoustic rock duo. A few of his favorite musicians include: The Beatles, Foo Fighters, Tom Petty and Incubus.

Stephanie Edwards is a piano instructor at B2R South Riding. She started studying piano at the age of five and now is working towards a Masters in Music (piano performance) at George Mason University under Dr. Linda Monson. She graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Evangel University in Springfield, MO. While at Evangel, she toured the US and Europe with the Concert Orchestra and also performed with the University Orchestra and Chorale. Most recently, Stephanie worked with Growing Stage Theatre Company’s summer camps, accompanied Soundcheque Jazz Choir, taught piano through Potomac Arts Academy, and accompanied vocal studios at GMU. Stephanie also enjoys playing the cello, singing, and listening various artists, such as MuteMath, Coldplay, Joshua Bell, Sara Bareilles, Prokofiev, John Williams, and Debussy.

Matt Francis is an internationally respected Saxophonist, jazz performer and educator. While studying at Berklee College of Music, he performed with some of todayʼs most significant jazz composers and performers. After several years of performing he moved to the Washington D.C. area where he began his educational career working for the DC Public School System. He is currently the Orchestra and Choir Director at Annapolis High School in Annapolis MD, and he continues to perform at many venues in the metro D.C. area.

Ashley Glasco is an Administrative Assistant of B2R South Riding. She has been involved in music since first grade, studied voice and piano at B2R and with a private coach in Germany. She was in Rhapsody and Chamber Choir starting her sophomore year through senior year of high school and was given the opportunity to perform many solos. She was also chosen to perform with the Southern Division Honors Choir in Memphis, Tennessee during her senior year. She is currently taking classes at NOVA and hopes to transfer to VCU to pursue her Major in Environmental Studies and Minor in Recording Arts. Ashley hopes to continue pursuing her love for music in the future.

Miles Harshman was born in Bogota, Colombia, but raised in Annapolis, MD. Early in life he began classical piano lessons, but after 9 years guitar became his instrument of choice. He then went on to graduate from Berklee College of Music with a Bachelor's Degree in Professional Music. During his time at Berklee he began to play in two bands, Michaela Kaser and the Naughty Drop, and Jess Ross as well as being in the house band at King's Boston.

Matt Hines started his musical training at age 7 on the piano. By age 8 he was performing in solo recitals and competitions in the Metropolitan area. He continued his classical training through age 18. At 15, Matt took what theory he knew and taught himself guitar and immediately began composing and performing on the instrument. In 1996 he formed and was primary songwriter and front-man for his first touring band in the mid-west. After success with his first touring band and 6 independent, self-released recording projects, Matt moved to Boston in 2000 to continue a solo performance career. He went back to Full Sail University for his education in recording arts in 2007. In 2009 he moved back to the DC area and is now producer/ performer for DC based artist Betty Boo and teaching guitar, piano, bass and instructing bands at Bach to Rock South Riding.

Krystle Hutton is a Music Specialist at B2R South Riding. She teaches voice, kids n keys, rock city (early childhood music), and group classes for voice, and also plays guitar. Krystle has been performing in choirs, musicals, talent shows, recitals, and operas for over 15 years. During her studies at Frostburg State University she worked on the Recital Hall Stage crew, getting stage manager, sound/lighting, front of house experience and becoming crew head. Krystle graduated Magna Cum Laude from Frostburg State University receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Vocal Performance and Spanish in 2008, and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Business Administration at UMUC (University of Maryland University College), which she will complete in December of this year. Some of her favorite music artists/inspirations include: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Adele, Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington, Idina Menzel, Leontyne Price, Incubus, Billy Joel and Alicia Keys.

Terri Lee teaches early childhood classes, beginning piano, and woodwind lessons at South Riding. Terri completed her undergraduate coursework in Rome, GA at Berry College in music, and her graduate studies in education from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN. Originally from south eastern Pennsylvania, began her music career playing the clarinet. Throughout her educational career from elementary school to graduate school Terri has participated in a variety of ensembles such as symphonic bands, symphonies, choral groups, and musical theater troupes. Terri loves musical theater, the Beach Boys, Mozart, and pretty much anything else that makes her smile. Terri is currently enjoying learning the guitar and teaching children the gift of music in schools and privately.

Eugene Iosilevich is a piano teacher and band coach at B2R McLean and B2R South Riding. Eugene holds a professional certificate from the Armed Forces School of Music, has studied jazz at Berklee College of Music as well as classical piano and composition at Syracuse University. Eugene has extensive professional and teaching experience which includes playing keyboard for the Army Band for 8 years. His diverse musical performances in the Army included jazz combos, rock bands, show bands ( R&B, Country, and Pop), stage/swing bands, dixieland, marching and concert bands, as well as countless solo performances, overseas and stateside. In addition, he has served for over 11 years as a church/chapel pianist and is currently Music Director at Sudley United Methodist Church. Since moving to the DC metropolitan area, he has performed with various jazz, rock and Latin ensembles, recorded with original jazz and hip-hop artists, and performed classical music recitals as well as private events through the Washington Talent Agency. Eugene has over 10 years of private teaching under his belt and finds teaching young people a continual source of inspiration. His favorite artists include Bill Evans, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Keith Jarrett, Miles Davis, the Mahavishnu Orchestra, J.S. Bach and Scriabin.

Cheri Kaplan teaches Kids n Keys classes, Rock City classes for the rock-a-bye 3.5-5s, and she also entertains at B2R Birthday Parties in the South Riding Locations. She’s taught piano for about 20 years and early childhood music and movement classes for about 12 years. She’s been a member of a variety of professional music teacher associations and has studied piano performance with an array of University professors from the area. She has studied piano pedagogy from the Washington D.C. based Levine School of Music and taken general music course work from the University of the District of Columbia. She holds a BA in Radio, Television and Film Production from the University of Maryland, College Park with a minor in human development. She is a native to the Washington Metropolitan area and has sung in the Reston Choral. She loves to work with adults and teens but especially tweens and wee little ones. Some of her favorite musical artists include Frederic Chopin, Sergie Rachmaninoff, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Hot Chile Rae, Selina Gomez, Dan Zanes and Laurie Berkner.

Sean Mason teaches guitar, bass, and is also a band coach at B2R South Riding. Sean has been performing live in Virginia since 2002. During high school Sean participated in the many music and arts programs offered. After four years of participating in the schools’ Jazz guitar Ensemble and classical guitar orchestra Sean was presented with the Curtis Alley Music and Arts Scholarship. In the fall of 2009, Sean will be attending Omega in Washington DC to study the field of recording arts, and technology. Currently Sean is playing guitar in a Beatles tribute band, and tracking drums and guitar for local melodic/metal bands in Northern Virginia. “Having experience and knowledge of more than one instrument allows me to expand my students’ minds, and ideas of how to approach ideas and exercises.” Says Mason who is proficient at guitar, bass, drum kit, and piano theory. Sean's musical interests include: Nightwish, Children of Bodem, lamb of god, Kamelot, Eric Clapton, Gojira and, Apocalyptica.

Aaron Sefchick is a Music Specialist at B2R South Riding. Aaron teaches guitar, bass, and is also is a band instructor. A certified recording audio engineer from The Recording Workshop in Ohio, Aaron's experience includes 17 years of live performance, studio work, group and private lessons. He enjoys most types of music and is always eager to expand his knowledge in the music/theory field. His musical interests include anything from King Crimson, Rush, Led Zeppelin, Steely Dan to Death, At the Gates, and even Miles Davis.

Alex Panagos is a Birthday Party/Teacher Assistant at B2R South Riding. Alex has over 8 yearsof experience as a drummer. He currently performs with Still Pending, a Bach to Rock High School band and the Fairfax High School Jazz band. Alex is currently studying guitar and is eager to expand his knowledge in the music/theory field. His musical interests include Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Incubus, Counting Crows, Avenge Sevenfold and Pat Metheny.

Scott Boastfield specializes in audio engineering, DJ'ing, and electronic/hip-hop production and recording. He was born and raised in Maryland and moved to northern Virginia. Moved to central Virginia where he studied cultural anthropology at James Madison University. After attending college he realized that life without music would be an error and he decided to switch gears and make music his profession. Scott moved to Atlanta and earned his Pro Tools DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) Operator's Certification at "Outkast's" Stankonia Studio. He has been creating digital tunes, and has recorded and produced a number of artists EP's/LP's. Scott has also spun vinyl at many local venues throughout D.C., Maryland, and Virginia (most notable Ibiza's DC Nightclub). "Music is a higher revelation than all wisdom and philosophy. Music is the electrical soil in which the spirit lives, thinks, and invents"-Ludwig van Beethoven.

Drew Recny teaches recording arts at B2R South Riding. He has been a musician since the age of 4. His first musical encounter was an out-of-tune piano sitting in the living room of his parent’s house in Northern Virginia. Taking private lessons at a very early age, trained him for a music career he never expected. Coming from a family of musicians, Drew had the opportunity to pluck, strum, and bang on everything that made noise in the house, which led him to be proficient in a variety of instruments. When Drew was growing up, his father had a drum set in the basement of the house. Sitting behind the kit seemed to be a very comfortable position for this young musician. A few years later, he dug up his father’s old acoustic guitar, which was collecting dust in the closet. He immediately knew that he would enjoy mastering this craft, and did so after a couple years of studying hard. Drew Recny is now a professional drummer for a regional band based out of Northern VA called “bob”. For 4 years, he has been traveling the country playing 3 to 5 nights a week in top of the line venues. He even had the opportunity to record an album with Grammy nominated producer, Garth Richardson, who has produced the bands “Red Hot Chili Peppers”, “Rage Against The Machine”, and “Nickleback”.
